AI-Driven Workforce Reduction in Job Platforms: The Future of Work

Published on July 15, 2025

This is an interesting article on AI in recruitment. The content surrounding the reduction in job boards is an interesting topic and one which we have been discussing more recently. There are new AI matching tools which are providing access to a range of candidates. If job boards fail to innovate, or continue to price so exorbitantly at a rate that makes it uncompetitive for the individual recruiter, they may lose many of their customer base to the lean challenger platforms.

One area that does need challenging in recruitment in 2025 is this: We see many excellent profiles out of work and unable to secure future employment. Not a day goes by when another candidate shares of over 400 job applications and very few interview or feedback from those applications. Many report the significant shift in the recruitment processes, and it feels as if AI is doing a very bad job of sifting through applications. What will be interesting to see is what the results were of those candidates that were selected and hired, whether companies are replacing and rehiring candidates in the next 12 - 18 mths, because of poor matching to culture, limited results and a knock on effect on productivity.
What AI cannot do, is understand human emotional intelligence and culture fit potential to an organisation. There are tasks that AI can support in - but replacing the human from recruitment, search and selection is not one of them. Take a look at the article here:
